Ash BARTY (#1)
After 12 months absent from the WTA Tour, Barty returned with a win at the lead up event in Melbourne. Her Australian Open 2021 campaign was derailed in the quarter finals (lost to Muchova) and will be looking to defend the title she won in Adelaide in 2020.
Elise MERTENS (#16)
Mertens started her Australia Summer Series by winning an event leading up to the 2021 Australian Open and made it to the Australian Open 4th round for the third time in four attempts (lost to Muchova). She also took home the doubles title (with Sabalenka) and will be full of confidence this week.
Iga SWIATEK (#17)
The Roland Garros 2020 champion, Swiatek, has proven that she is not just a clay courter by making it to the fourth round of the Australian Open for a secon straight year (lost to Halep). She will be looking to win her first WTA title on hard courts this week in Adelaide.
